About Pat Bayly

With his training as a professional electrical engineer during the war years, Pat Bayly served as second in command at Camp X, which was located between Whitby and Oshawa. Following the war, he remained in Ajax establishing his own engineering firm, Bayly Engineering Limited. He began his service for the Town in 1950 as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Improvement District of Ajax. Pat was instrumental in bringing Ajax to full municipal status, and was elected its first Mayor in January, 1955, serving for only one term. Pat retired from Bayly Engineering in 1962 and passed away in March 1994.
